ICD-10 Updates – Testing with Providers

Available until 9/30/2015
We are conducting File Validation Testing for providers who are EDI direct submitters. We have chosen TIBCO Validator® as our primary testing tool that offers unlimited testing of your EDI HIPAA transactions. This self-guided, web-based processing application is equipped to test file formats and edits as they pertain to ICD-10.
To get started, visit our BCBSGa EDI Webpage where you will find the “Free On-Line HIPAA Validation Testing” link to register for Validator® and more information and the guidelines for using the tool.
If you are not an EDI direct submitter, Validator® is available to your claims submission vendor (clearinghouse, billing company, etc.) for unlimited testing. Ask your claims submission vendor about testing with us.
As part of our End to End Testing conducted in 2014, we have successfully exchanged claim files with ICD-10 codes containing these clearinghouses.

End-to-End Testing
As part of our approach to discovering, understanding and predicting the impact of ICD-10, we’ve conducted extensive End to End Testing with selected providers and clearing houses. For our results of the 2014 End to End Testing, read our ICD-10 End to End Testing Summary.
Though we consider this testing successful, we will continue to verify our findings with additional internal analysis and a limited external testing effort in 2015. Participants for testing have already been identified for this year’s testing. No additional providers are needed.
As you develop your internal ICD-10 testing strategy, here are some suggested best practices to consider
Use real medical records to test systems.
Dual coding will help create test data that can be used.
Have the documentation available that supports your test ICD-10 codes.
