Medications for Depression

Following your doctor’s advice
If your doctor has prescribed antidepressant therapy, there are some important things to remember while on the medication:
Always take antidepressant medication as prescribed by your doctor.
Remember to visit your doctor once every month for 3 months to make sure the medication is working and that you are not experiencing side effects.
If you do experience side effects or any discomfort, it’s very important to talk to the doctor about it. Your meds can be adjusted or you can be changed to a different medication to help you to feel better.
You should stay on the medication until your doctor agrees that it’s time for a change.
Remember, an open dialogue with your doctor is very important when taking antidepressant medications. To learn more, ask you doctor.
