BlueCross and BlueShield of Georgia Announces Winners of the Get Active, Get Fit School Challenge

 

Radio Disney Hosting 22 Live Dance Parties at Winning Schools

 

ATLANTA – March 28, 2014 – BlueCross and BlueShield of Georgia, Inc. and BlueCross BlueShield Healthcare Plan of Georgia, Inc. (collectively “BCBSGa”), the state’s largest health solutions company, today announced the winners of the Get Active, Get Fit School Challenge.  Get Active, Get Fit is an effort between BCBSGa and Radio Disney, designed to motivate kids and families to achieve fitness together by engaging in fun activities.  Nearly 54,000 students in Georgia signed up to participate in this year’s Get Active, Get Fit School Challenge.  To successfully complete the challenge, students had to be active for a minimum of 40 of the 55 days during the event, which ran from Sept. 20 through Nov. 23, 2013.

 

Eighty-four schools in Georgia competed in the challenge and submitted their results. The 22 schools with the highest percentage of participation in the program won a live dance party at their school hosted by Radio Disney.  Schools were also entered into a random drawing for new gym equipment packages valued at $500. The dance parties are going on in area schools now.
