Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia offers The Healing Book to Help Young Life Insurance Beneficiaries Cope with the Loss of a Loved One
Free children's book now available to provide support during the grieving process
Atlanta, GA - September 4, 2009 - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia (BCBSGA) kicks off Life Insurance Awareness Month by enhancing the support services already available to its group life insurance beneficiaries by offering a new book to help children who are affected by the loss of a loved one - The Healing Book: Facing the Death and Celebrating the Life of Someone You Love (written by Ellen Sabin and published by Watering Can Press).
The Healing Book is a resource that helps children and families express their feelings, ask questions and explore their memories when someone they love has died. It is an activity book, journal and conversation-starter that children can personalize and use in whatever way that best meets their needs during the grieving and remembering process.
"When a loved one dies, it is usually a very difficult time for everyone in the family, especially for children. Therefore, BCBSGA is glad to offer this helpful book to beneficiaries," said Monye Connolly, president, BCBSGA.
"We want family members to think of us as providing more than a check to them during this challenging time. We want them to see us as a source that offers them valuable tools including grief counseling, legal and financial consultation and other services," said Tom Foran, staff vice president, Product Management/Business Development, Life and Disability. "We believe The Healing Book is a great complement to the resources we offer to those who are grieving."
Beneficiaries can go to resourceadvisor.anthem.com to order a free copy of this book for their children. In addition, beneficiaries can order free copies for a grandchild, niece or nephew, or a close friend.
